UCA FEBRUARY MEETING

Saturday, February 15, 2025

Utah Cultural Celebration Center

1355 West 3100 South • West Valley City, UT

10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Once again, we ask you to come early to find a seat, look at books in our new library,  and check out or add to the items in the Flea Market.  Be sure to bring some cash to pay for items you buy.  Please put your money in the Flea Market tin.  We only accept cash—no checks or Venmo.

All proceeds will go toward the Christmas Compendium in November.

We will begin our meeting with Lee Sim teaching us about the Batarde alphabet.  He will instruct us on how to letter out this elegant hand.  "Batarde is the French equivalent of the English Secretary or the German Fraktur hands."  It originated in the late 13th century.  PLEASE SEE HANDOUTS UNDER THE "HANDOUTS 2025" TAB ABOVE

After spending time lettering, and learning how to replicate Batarde and imagining just how we will use it for our own purposes, we will put down our pens and get ready for a break.  After the break, we will once again focus on Lee as he teaches just how to construct the Astounding Scroll Box invented by Lee, himself.

Handouts for making the Scroll Box are above with the Batarde handouts.  See the above "2025 Handouts" tab  and bring the printed handouts with you to the February meeting.
